Meet my new Honda CB Hornet 160R CBS version I bought on 11 May 2018 from Vahini Honda, Kollam, Kerala. The on-road price including all taxes and insurance was Rs.105K. I chose the Sports Red color. When compared to the previous version, the 2018 version comes with a revamped headlight with bright LED lights. Other differences are new body graphics, low maintenance seal chain, optional single channel ABS etc. I actually wanted the ABS version but there was too much waiting for to get it. So finally I got the CBS. If you're wondering why I chose this over Gixxer, FZ etc, the answer is "love at first sight", and then it's a Honda. This bike is so stunning to look at.
I've been using this for a month now and I'm starting to like it. The first free service was done on 16 Jun 2018. The bike was producing some vibration at the engine side when I speed up above 50 Km/h. This was lessened after the first service. One thing I'm not so satisfied with the bike is the gear ratios. The ratio between 1st and 2nd is too narrow that you'll need to shift gears more often in city traffic and that could become difficult. But that will be a problem at the beginning only. Honda for some reason has reduced the power delivered at low RPMs at low gears, may be for better fuel economy. You will feel the full power of the bike only at higher speeds, starting at 4th (around 6000RPM). Braking is good considering Honda's Combi brake system that activates both front and rear brakes when you push just the rear brake lever. Though more braking power resides at the front. The new LED headlight is pretty bright and well dispersed. I'm getting 50-55 Km/L mileage on moderate city traffic. The seating is comfort and the backseat is spacious for the pillion rider.
Here are some high resolution images of the bike I took with my Moto G2. Click on the images and high resolution version will open in a new tab.
